No. 19 (Friends'
Meeting House)
II
Detached house. Built originally c.1699 and used as a Friends' Meeting
House, though very altered in C.19 and with recent refurbishment.
Rendered walls. Stone slate roof. Two storeys. Near central
door in recent porch. To left and right, both floors, is C.19.
2-light sash window. Outshut to rear.
General Quarter Sessions of the West Riding, held at Wakefield on 11th
January 1699 ordered that the newly erected house be recorded as a place
of religious worship. The house became the focal point of Quaker
activity in the area.
