Detached villa in own grounds. Early C19. Rendered, slate
roof. A compact square range facing S, with an extended wing
to the NE, and a later small extension to the W.
EXTERIOR: garden front is in 2 storeys with 3 windows; large
16-pane sashes to stone sills at first floor, above plain
sashes taken to floor level. The central panelled door with
transom light is covered by a large square portico on fluted
Roman Doric columns, without entasis, carrying a triglyph
entablature under enclosed pediment on 3 sides. The sides and
front are glazed. Plinth, first-floor plat band, moulded
cornice, blocking course and parapet.
The left return has an added one-storey extension in painted
brick, to an octagonal outer end, with various windows. The
right return is in 2 parts; the main range has 16-pane sashes
in 4 bays, then a section with two 12-pane sashes set at a
lower level, above a pair of heavy unfluted Tuscan columns in
antis to a recessed porch over door, transom light, and
side-lights. Beyond this is further door with transom light,
to segmental head. The cornice and blocking continue for the
full length of the range. There are 2 stacks to the front
range, and 2 to the wing.
