House, now forms 2 dwellings. Early C19 with later C19 additions.
Birthplace of Lord Oxford and Asquith (12th September 1852, died 15th February
1928) Prime Minister of England 1908-1916. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate
roof. 2 storeys. 2-cell central -entry plan double-depth with later added
cell to rear. 3-bay symmetrical facade. Semicircular-arched doorway with
impost and fanlight flanked by Doric pilasters with entablature and cornice.
To either side and above, windows with wedge lintels all with altered glazing,
those to ground floor with lowered sills and French windows. Coped gables
with ridge stacks. Addition to rear under 2 gables with coping and ridge stacks.
Left-hand return has 2-storey bay window in ashlar of 3 lights.
Included as the birthplace of the first Liberal Prime Minister of England.
