Laithehouse. 2nd half C17, barn refronted late C18. Rubble brought to course,
south-east front of barn of coursed, squared stone; stone slate roofs. South-east
front: house: through-passage. 2 storeys, 3 bays, the 2 to left paired cross-
wings with quoins. Bay 3: on right a chamfered, quoined, Tudor-arched doorway
with sunk spandrels (and C20 part glazed door). To left is quoined window with
single-light window above. Bays 1 and 2 have double-chamfered mullion windows,
to bay 1 of 5 lights and 4 lights above with smaller, blocked, 2-light window on
right; to bay 2 of 6 lights (3 mullions removed) and 4 lights above. Gutter spout
in valley. Chamfered kneelers and coping. Part-broken finials, base of that to
left with raised letter 'H'. Renewed stacks in right of bay 2 and to ridge on left
of bay 3. Barn (on right): quoins to right. Central round-arched doorway with
quoins, voussoirs and dropped triple keystone and narrow rectangular opening above.
On left 2 blind windows of 2 lights (formerly of 3 and 4 lights) with former 3-light
window above flanked by 6 pigeon-holes with ledges. Rear: house: left bay has
Tudor-arched, chamfered, quoi+ed doorway with a plain stone surround window to its
right on both floors. Plain gutter brackets. Cross-wings, masked by added, gabled
shelter, each have a 4-light window (mullions removed from right wing) with a 4-
light flat-faced mullion window above and, to right wing, a plain stone surround
doorway with tie-stones. Barn: masonry continues from house, indicating both
of one build originally. Opposed cart-entry. Doorway on left. Gutter brackets
continued from house. Left return (house): to left on ground floor two former
2-light windows and a chamfered single light.
