C16. A large detached house. 2 storeys,basement and gable storey. Squared, coursed
stone. Stone slab roof. North front; 3 windows. Above: 5-light window each side of
5-light oriel. Below: 3-light window either side of central doorway with heavy rusticated
arch of rounded stones and stone steps in front (having C19 railings). All the windows
have splayed mullions and transoms. 2 further windows of 3 lights with splayed mullions
under dripmoulds and round heads are in the 2 gables, which have crocketed finials and
are flanked by corner chimneys. A turret projects on the west side of the main block,
which is in practically unaltered condition. A C19 wing in similar style has been added
on the east, and on the west a chapel of circa 1830 with lancet windows and wooden tracery.
