Farmhouse. Early C19 with C17 origins, and late C19 and early C20 alterations. Rendered, stone dressings, hipped slate roof. Central staircase plan. Two storeys three bays. Central entrance has engaged Tuscan columns, open pediment; four panel door and round-headed fanlight with intersecting tracery. Left-hand ground floor window has c1900 splayed surround; sashes with glazing bars. Right-hand ground floor early C20 bay window; casements. Three upper floor windows have plain surrounds, sashes with glazing bars. Eaves cornice. Right of centre ridge stack, left- and right-hand eaves stacks. Right-hand return is now Close House Cottage (q,v). At rear is C17 chamfered window with round-headed; leaded fixed light.
Wing projecting from left-hand return contains King post truss inscribed on the beam REF 1688. (Richard & Elizabeth Frankland).
