Limekilns , CCC Caravan

Former limekilns. Dated 1856. Rubble and brick. Range of 3 pairs of
limekilns, built into hillside. Each kiln approximately square on plan with
3 hearths of small round arches in pale brick. To each kiln opening a semi-
circular arch of rubble voussoirs, second from left partly blocked. In
centre, ashlar plaque inscribed 'M W & Co. 1856'. Cast-iron beams, some
broken off, project from top of structure. 2 small turrets on top edge,
probably originally 3. Construction linked with opening of Wensleydale
railway line, which runs close by.
