4/2 Stable range and 2 cottages
to south east of Chorlton Hall

Stable blocks and cottages c181O. Brick, slate roofs. L shaped
block, on yard side contains 5 stable doors and archway through to
Hall and gardens, 6 pitch holes with curved stone cills, 2 windows
with arched brick heads and added windows. Two adjoining 2-storey
cottages, of one bay each, one integral to the stables and one added.
Both have timber casements, those at right hand cottage have small
panes. Doorway to righthand cottage, below porch, has doorcase dated
?1661 and with illegible inscription which may read "in the lifetime
of George Manwaringe c166O", recorded over a door lintel (Ormerod 1882
Vol. II, 664).
