GV II

Detached villa. Mid C19. Stucco or render with stucco detail;
dry slate roof, hipped on the left, over tall eaves
entablature with consoles; segmental-roofed dormers with
4-pane horned sashes; cast-iron ogee gutters. Double-depth
plan with probably 2 rooms at the front flanking a central
entrance hall, plus service wing at rear left.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; symmetrical 3-window front
with rusticated quoins. Original 12-pane hornless sashes,
those to 1st floor within moulded architraves on sill
brackets. Ground floor has old shallow lean-to conservatory
and central doorway with moulded hood; overlight and panelled
door. Left-hand return is a 1-window range: moulded
architraves, eared to ground floor and with 2-pane horned
sash, the 1st-floor with French casements to cast-iron
balcony, with anthemion decoration, on moulded brackets.
Right-hand return has 6-pane sash to gable and canted bay
window to ground floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be as unaltered as the
exterior.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: high rubble forecourt wall surmounted by
cast-iron railings with turned finials.
