Barn. C17 with later alterations. Limestone and sandstone rubble with pantiled
roof to south, double Roman tiled north slope, plain tiled hipped roof to west;
some brick. South front has cart entry with timber lintel, small blocked window
above with timber lintel, some brickwork to right and former door with 3-light
window inserted; large lean-to to left continuing pitch of main roof, conceals a
blocked 2-light window with ovolo mullion and upper ventilation slit, roof of
4 bays with 2 rows of purlins and principal rafters. West elevation has small
opening at ground floor left and central blocked loading door above, straight
joint to lean-to to right. Rear (on road) has high blocked cart entry to left
with small openings inserted at ground and first floor levels, 3 blocked openings
with timber lintels at first floor centre with 2 blocked ventilation slits below,
2 blocked ventilation slits under eaves to right and continuous stone hood mould
below with 2 blocked windows and one door. Interior: 9-bay roof has tie-beam,
2 collars, some cambered, 3 rows of purlins, ridge purlin and plated yoke, to
front and rear slopes, 2 tiers of windbraces, straight not curved, not in all
bays; heavy chamfered beams supporting floor across part of interior.
