Farmhouse. Possible C15 core with C16 and C17 alterations and additions.
Roughcast to south front, coursed rubble with large square rusticated flush quoins
to rear. Stone copings, pantile roofs. L shaped plan with cross passage.
Irregular garden front of 3 separate elements: central section with hall and
passage, right hand addition at right angles with grand solar and further addition
to left hand containing parlour. 2 storeys. Left hand section of 2 windows,
those to the ground floor under segmental heads all with large pane C19 casements.
Central section of 2 windows with similar fenestration. Right hand wing also with
similar fenestration but in addition a small ogee-headed window below the eaves to
light a stair turret. Round-headed studded plank door to left hand in centre
section. Further C19 door with marginal glazing and flat hood on carved brackets
to right hand wing and on the east wall, another ogee-headed light to garderobe
projection. Steeply gabled roofs with 3 ridge stacks. Rear C17 service wing.
Interior. 2 oak framed doorways between lobby and parlour, possibly C15.
Studded plank door to passage. Large inglenook in hall and chamfered cross
beams. Moulded stone architrave to solar doorway with studded plank door,
similar door with Tudor arch to newel stair in solar, also 6 panel compartmented
ceiling and Tudor arched fireplace. (Unpublished VAG report by E.H.D. Williams,
