Farmhouse. C16, thatch removed and roof raised early C20, later alterations.
Rubble, rendered, double Roman tiled roof with ridge and gable stacks.
Originally 3 room plan with through passage, extended to right for dairy, ridge
stack formerly at gable end. 1 1/2 storeys and 4 windows, ground floor has from
left 2-light and 3-light casement with door between, two 2-light casements above,
stack and oven projecting to right; former dairy to right has C20 window, French
window, door and glazed porch, 2 gabled dormers above with 4-pane sashes. Left
return has single storey small addition and brick buttress; right return has
single storey C20 addition. Rear has roof level raised to right over French
window and casement at first floor; to left, single light at ground and first
floor and small 2-light casement at first floor, single storey flat-roofed
addition to rear centre with 3-light casement and 2 doors. Interior: room to
left has framed ceiling with deep-chamfered beams, fireplace with heavy chamfered
and stopped lintel, rebuilt jambs; plank and batten door in ovolo-moulded frame,
newel stair enclosed to rear left with similar door, central room now sub-divided,
chamfered beams retained; room at former gable end to right has wide fireplace
in moulded surround, panelled cupboard door to right at position of former oven,
panelled cupboards with L-hinges, one in front wall and 2 to rear, shutters to
front windows, also panelled, very deep-chamfered beams, battered walls. At
first floor, passage created along rear by screen partition, probably late C18/
early C19, roof construction not visible.
