Mid C15. Renovated mid C20. Exposed timber frame and plastered infill.
Long straw thatched roof hipped to west end. Red brick ridge stack, C17
repaired, with two diagonally set linked shafts. Coved eaves to recessed two
centre bays. Plan of open hall with solar to west end and service end to
east. Two storeys with jettied first floor to solar and service ends.
Modern leaded light casements to first and ground floors. Doorway to
cross-passage in service end is original. Four centred arch in square head
with carved spandrels. Framing has curved downward wall bracing and studs of
heavy scantling. The jetty joists are carried on shaped brackets. There is
a plaster shield of arms reset in the north wall of the hall in its original
location. Inside: The chimney stack and floor were inserted into the hall in
C17. The hearth has now been removed. The roof was not inspected but is of
plain crown-post instruction and is smoke blackened.
