Milestone. 1731. Stone, painted white with black lettering and Roman
numerals. Domed top. Diamond shape. Shield of arms of Trinity Hall,
Cambridge above inscription XI miles to Cambridge, two hands with pointing
fingers and the date A.D. MD CCXXXI. Another face has a hand with a pointing
finger above inscription To Royston, and below a hand with a pointing finger
and To Whittlesford inscribed. One of the milestones set up under the Trust
fund to administer a bequest from Dr. Mowse, Master of Trinity Hall,
Cambridge, 1552-3, for the upkeep of the highways in and about Cambridge.
