Possibly early C18, thought to have originally been The New Bell Inn. Refaced in C19 with modern shop alterations. Local brown brick; slate roof with parapet gables and side stacks. Stone coped panelled brick parapet. Two storeys with attics. Brick piers at quoins and flanking entrance bay. Moulded stone cornice. Five first floor recessed hung sash windows in cambered brick arches with stone cills. Modern shop windows and central door. Included for its position on the corner of Hill Street and for group value. Photographs and prints, W. & M. Mus. C19.
