Pair of estate cottages. Circa 1898-1900. By Romaine Walker for
Mr. Robert Hudson of Danesfield. Ground floor of dressed chalk
blocks; upper storey roughcast and whitewashed; plain tile roof;
wooden bargeboards to gables; brick chimneys with 'V' pilasters and
off-set heads to ends and centre. Picturesque. 1½ storeys, the upper
storey jettied to S. and E. with wooden bressumer on curved wooden
brackets. 4 bays, the W. bay gabled. Ground floor has 3 pairs of
2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows, and board doors in
4-centred arches flanking central window. Upper storey has 5-light
canted wooden oriel in gabled bay, and 3 2-light gabled dormers.
Leaded glazing. Wooden bressumer over oriel. Rear has lower eaves line,
flanking catslide projections, similar stone mullion windows, and
board doors in stop-chamfered surrounds. 4-light dormers with 'M'
gables to centre and right, raking 6-light dormer to left, 2-light
casement in right gable.
