House, now 4 cottages. 1585. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red plain tiles. 4-bay medieval plan but with original floor throughout,
jettied to the street, underbuilt. Original stair tower to rear, and C17 rear
extension. 2 storeys. 6-window range of C18 sashes with glazing bars. Nos. 98
and 104 have 6-panel doors, the top 2 panels glazed; nos. 100 and 102 have
4-panel doors. All have flat hoods on brackets. C18 iron railings with returns
to each door. Roof hipped at left end. High quality timber frame,
stop-chamfered beams and joists, arch-braced side-purlin roof. (Wherein I
Dwell, Earls Colne WEA, 1983,59).
