Cart lodge, now house. C17, converted 1986. Timber framed, mainly
weatherboarded with some C20 red brick in English bond, roofed with handmade red
plain tiles. 4 bays and central short bay, facing SW, with 2 lean-to extensions
to rear. 2 storeys. C20 single-storey extension to left, roofed with slate.
Ground floor, 3 C20 casements. 2 more in lean-to half-dormers, replacing
earlier slatted dormers, and one C20 in-pitch rooflight. C20 6-panel door, the
top 2 panels glazed, in recessed porch. Hipped roof with 2 metal flues. The 2
rear lean-tos have been converted from one full-length lean-to extension
formerly roofed with corrugated asbestos. Heavy hardwood frame, fully jointed
and pegged. Binding beams tenoned to ledged posts; heavy joists. Original ogee
grown knees above binding beams. Side purlin roof with intermediate collars.
The whole frame has been raised on concrete stylobates. Included for group
value.
