TL 64 SE STURMER COUPALS ROAD

Barn, early c18, extended in C19. Timber framed weatherboarded, roofed with
red clay pantiles and some corrugated perspex. 5 bays aligned approx. E-W with
midstey to N. Extended to W by 4 bays, angled slightly to the S, forming an
independent frame. Half-hipped at outer ends and on midstrey. The earlier barn
is of high quality imported softwood, probably Baltic pine, of fully pegged
construction, with jowled posts and arched braces to tiebeams either side of
middle bay, but no tiebeams between bays 1 and 2 and 4 and 5. Primary straight
bracing in walls. Clasped purlin roof. The W extension has no additional
large doors. Unjowled posts, primary straight bracing, clasped purlin roof.
