2 houses and stable. Early C18. Painted stone rubble walls, under graduated
greenslate roof with brick chimney stacks. Midtown Cottage is 2 storeys, 3 bays
with right 2-bay house and 2-bay stable which is now partly domestic, all under
common roof. Midtown Cottage has off-centre plank door in plain opening.
Irregular sash and casement windows in painted stone surrounds, some of which
are C19 and left ground floor firewindow. Adjoining house has central C20 door
and sash windows in C19 painted stone surrounds. Stables have large right
double plank doors and sash windows in C18 painted stone surrounds. Midtown
Cottage is mentioned in RCHM Westmorland, P23.
