Marley Cottage
II
Cottage. Late C18-early C19. Stone walls, thatched roof, brick stacks. Two
storeys. Lean-to extension facing road has brick and flint walls and tiled roof.
Main house has extension at north end under a catslide roof. Street elevation has
modern entrance door at south end of lean-to and a pair of garage doors and one
casement window at north end. Modern dormer above extension roof. Main (east)
elavation has part-glazed door. Ground floor has built-up doorway, two casement
windows and two horizontally sliding sashes, all with glazing bars. First floor has
three casement windows, one retaining some lead lights, others with glazing bars.
Internally, ground floor rooms have chamfered ceiling beams. South room has large
open fireplace with timber lintel - reconstructed. North room has traces of bread
oven.
