Well or reservoir. Late C18. Built for the Lascelles family of Harewood House. Coursed stone and ashlar with stone slate roofs. Rectangular outer wall 4 metres high has rounded coping and a single doorway with C20 plank door. Inside rectangular ashlar reservoir with small access doorway at one gable end and circular window at the other. Coped gables and shallow pitch stone slate roof. Inside plain stone walls and shallow segmental arched stone vault. HISTORY: this well or reservoir must have been built to serve the water supply to Harewood House.
