Detached house. Late C15, of open-hall origin, altered in C16 and early C17.
Rubble stone walls, thatched roof, one brick stack left of door, one at
right end. 2 storeys - (originally one storey and attic). Possibly
originally a long house - the byre, at left end, rebuilt as a kitchen. C20
open timber porch with gabled tiled roof. C20 ledged door. Ground floor
has left of door, a 3-light stone mullioned window with hoodmould. 2 similar
windows right of door. First floor has 3 similar windows, without hoodmoulds -
all with inserted timber casements. Front wall rebuilt and raised in C17.
Internally, hall has large open fireplace with stone jambs, timber lintel
and remains of bread oven. Cruck posts visible in rear wall. The inserted
floor part renewed in C20 but retains one chamfered ceiling beam. Chamber
over hall has one true cruck and 2 jointed cruck trusses - one of these
altered when front wall raised - all smoke-blackened. Fireplace with stone
jambs and timber lintel. Roof over kitchen renewed. C20 single - storey
