Small country house. Built Mid C18 as Turret House, later Drayton
Lodge, extended late C18. Brick partly rendered. Slate roof,
parapet with moulded brick modillion cornice. Central block 3-storeys,
later C18 N. wing 2-storeys but same height. Central block has 3 bays of
sash windows. Central window on ground floor semicircular arched with
radiating fanlight. C20 brick porch in RH bay. N. wing has 1 recessed
linking bay, having semicircular arched window with fanlight to ground
floor; 2 bays to RH in full height bow with 2 sash windows to each floor.
N. elevation has 2 sash window in centre of each floor. S. elevation
rendered, apparently where S. wing removed. Modern conservatory to
ground floor. Interior of main block has original C18 staircase, fielded
panelled dado and turned balusters, several old fielded panelled doors.
N. wing: ground floor room has fine original marble chimneypiece with
paterae, frieze and central panel carved in relief; 2 doorcases with
fluted cornices; fluted chair-rail and frieze below cornice. 1st floor room
has white marble chimneypiece, a similar doorcase, and cornice with anthemion
and urn frieze.
