10/32 Lych gate to the Church
of St. Paul

Lych gate. Late C19 by Henry Woodyer. Stone piers with plain chamfers,
cornice, wooden roof arch braced from piers to 2 plain purlins; scissor
rafters above and scalloped ridge piece. 4 semi-arch braces on outside
face of each pier to plain rafter plate. Tile, gabled roof, with small
gablets either side; moulded and cusped bargeboards. Pair of framed
wooden gates; 3 trefoiled headed panels with middle rail and diagonal
braces; moulded top rail. Some fragments remain of former spear headed
iron cresting. The lych gate is located on the axis from the road to the
church tower.
