Farmhouse, 1817, incorporating end gable of earlier building.
Brick with raised stone quoins. Tiled roof replacing slate,
replacing earlier thatch on lower internal roof. Two storeys and
attic. Three bays. Central door in gabled porch. Flanking canted
bay windows, these and the door have rubbed relieving brick arches.
Timber casement windows to upper floor. Two small dormers and
panelled stacks, to right with initials and datestone. Widdington
Farm was the birthplace of Henry Orator Hunt, born 1773, chartist
and radical leader at the time of the Peterloo massacre, ally of
Cobbett, and later Member of Parliament. He later moved to
Chisenbury Priory (q.v.) and Littlecott Farm. Interior has
inglenook fireplace on right gable wall. Also included the semi-
circular front garden wall, approximately 70cm high, with half-
round brick copings.
