Small country house, built in 1801. Coursed limestone with slated
hipped roof. 2 storeys and 5 bays to south front. Rectangular
central porch with pediment and panelled Tuscan pilasters is
later addition (mid C19) in Roman cement. Arched windows with
radiating glazing bars and abacus band, flat headed 1st floor sashes
with continuous sill band. Moulded stone eaves to hipped slate
roof. North west service range in stone has 3 bays and 2 storeys
and sash windows. Brick dentil eaves to slate roof. Formerly much
longer but now reduced to 3 bays. Interior of house has staircase
with shaped cut tread ends and turned balusters. Other rooms have
panelled doors, architraved surrounds and contemporary fireplaces.
At rear is lintel from C17 mansion reset inscribed 'Nec glis sit servus,
nec hos pes hirudo', translated as 'Let not your servant be a doormouse,
nor your guest an horseleech'.
