House, now cottage row. Early C16 and extended C17-C18, altered C19. Timber
framed, weather-boarded and tile hung, and part exposed with plaster infill.
Plain tiled roof. Wealden hall house of 4 framed bays with long rear wing. Main
range: 2 storeys and attic with jettied wings left and right on brackets, and
eaves carried over central recess on brackets. Hipped roof with stacks to left
and right and 4 hipped dormers. Four wooden casements on first floor, and glazing
bar sash, wooden casements and 3 half-glazed doors on ground floor. Right return
wing of 2 storeys, with hipped roof and stacks to right and clustered to centre
left. Five wooden casements on each floor and half-glazed doors. Left return
with part-exposed sandstone basement. The original Wealden is of a substantial
size and was clearly a house of quality when first built.
