6 chest-tombs. Mid - late Cl8th and early Cl9th. Ashlar. Panelled sides with
moulded cornice. (1) 1786-96. Atkinson of Bath. Panelled. (2) 1793-96. Smith
of Bath. Panelled. (3) 1788-1805. Elkington of Bath. Panelled. (4) 1819.
Wright. Panelled. (5) Panelled. (6) Corner balusters; carved foliage and
frieze with paterae. The chest tombs in Bathampton churchyard represent a good
collection of classical and traditional local tomb forms and contribute to the
setting of the church.
