Cottage. Circa late C17 or early C18. Plastered timber frame,
some brick infilling. Steeply-pitched thatched roof with gabled
ends, clad in corrugated iron sheets. Gault brick axial and
gable-end stacks. Plan: 3-room plan. Centre and right hand rooms
heated from axial and gable end stacks respectively; left hand
room may have been unheated originally. Exterior: 1 storey and
attic. Asymmetrical 3-window south east front with late C19 or
C20 2-light casements with small panes. C20 door to right of
centre. 2 small dormers with raking roofs and small 2-light
casements with glazing bars. Casements with glazing bars at rear
and panelled door at centre. Casement in south west gable end,
similar to those at front. Interior: Right hand and centre rooms
have chamfered axial beams, the right hand room has large brick
fireplace with chamfered timber lintel and ovens. In the attic
chambers the wall-plates, tie-beams, principal rafters and
tenoned purlins are exposed. The principal rafters are truncated
just above the purlins.
