House. Late C18/early C19. Red brick in Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red
clay tiles. Double range plan facing NE, with 2 end stacks to each range, of 2
storeys. Service wing to rear with end stack and gambrel roof, of one storey
with attics. C19 single-storey extension beyond, with end stack and slate roof.
Ground floor, 2 original sashes of 16 lights, and near-central C20 sash of 12
lights, probably replacing original door. First floor, 3 original sashes of 16,
12 and 16 lights respectively, with crown glass. Moulded cornice. Plain
parapet. In right return, early C19 flush 6-panel door, the top 2 panels
glazed, with dentilled pediment. In left return, French windows in early C19
cast iron porch with tented roof. Shown in its present form in the tithe award
of 1840 (Essex Record Office, D/CT 352).
