Farmhouse, late C16, altered in C20. Timber framed, frame exposed externally
with C20 brick infill on ground floor, plaster infill above, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay main range aligned approx. N-S with C18 chimney
stack at S end. Aspect W. 2-bay service crosswing to N, with central chimney
stack, C17. 2-bay parlour crosswing to S, with C17 stair tower in rear angle.
Single-storey lean-to extension to N of N crosswing, C19. Single-storey
extension to E of N crosswing, C20, roofed with red interlocking tiles. 2
storeys. W elevation, door in gabled porch, 3 casement windows on ground floor
and 7 on first floor, all C20. Yellow brick infill on ground floor only. Later
external frame on S wall of S crosswing, with primary scraight bracing and C20
red brick infill on L-round floor only. Blocked unglazed window in S wall of
N crosswing, first floor. A structural break is apparent between the N
crosswing and the main range, but indicating a phased building programme in
the same period. Beams plain-chumfered and stopped (=iariJus types), joists
mostly exposed, unchamfered in N wing, chamfered and stopped in S wing. All
roofs of clasped purlin construction, with arched wind bracing. Hearths and
internal surfaces altered in C20. .;
