Terrace of four mill-workers' cottages, c1845, probably by Weightman & Hadfield.
Coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and vermiculated quoins. Welsh
slate roof with wooden bargeboards and finials. Four paired stone ridge stacks.
Two storeys. Almost symmetrical south elevation of six bays. Centre two bays
have two 3-light chamfered mullion windows to ground floor and two similar 2-light
windows above. Flanked by advanced gabled bays with two single light windows to
the ground floor and a 2-light window above. The right hand gabled bay also has a
door. The outer bays have a 3-light window with a 2-light window above. Some of
the windows retain their diamond lights. The cottages form part of the mill
settlement built to serve Cressbrook Mill. They form part of a symmetrical
composition with Nos 44 - 45 and Nos 46 - 49 Middle Row.
