Small manor house. Dated 1658, but with C16 core, and with further alterations in
C20. Ashlar and coursed rubble gritstone with quoins, coped gables and,moulded
kneelers, intermediate ridge stacks of ashlar and brick, the stack to the main
range with a moulded cap, Stone slated roof. Former baffle entry plan, with
advanced wings either end of a central range, and a gabled stair tower to the rear
elevation, South east--elevation; two storeys and attics, four bays with 2 and 3-
light recessed chamfer mullioned windows, generally with C20 leaded casements.
Ground floor window openings have been enlarged, and the window to the north east
wing has been replaced with a larger C20 casement, Windows to advanced wings
beneath hoodmoulds with stops, those to the central range are below continuous
dripmoulds. Gabled 2-light attic dormer to central range. Two storey lean-to
porch at angle of main range and south west wing, with quoined doorway beneath
hoodmould with stops, and datestone inscribed MG above, dating the major C17
1658
remodelling of the house. 2-light mullioned window with pointed lights carved
from single block, above porch doorway, Two and a half stair tower to rear
elevation has 3-light recessed chamfer mullioned windows with pointed arched
heads to lights to lower landing, and 2-light mullioned window beneath hoodmould
with stops, Small arrowslit opening to angle of tower and main range at north
east end, Interior; moulded hearth beam and heck post and beam soffit shaped to door
head to ground floor at south west end. Massive chamfered spine beams with ovolo
moulding to ground floor, massive central hearth with arched head and massive stone
baffle, Good C17 hearth to parlour at north east end.
