The Square House (formerly
GV listed as Bateman Arms)

House, formerly the Bateman Arms. C19, regularly coursed gritstone, with coped
gables, ridge stacks with moulded drips and stone slate roof. Two storeys, three
bays, with end gables having 2-light chamfer mullioned windows with hood-moulds
and stops. Cast iron casement frames with glazing bars. Refashioned central
doorway with square frame recessed within segmental stone arch. Small 2-light
window to north of doorway.
