A barn extended and converted to stables and coach house and again partly
converted into living accommodation. Probably C17 origin, extended in
circa mid to late C19 and converted in C20. Local limestone rubble.
Scantle slate half-hipped roof with C19 crested ridge tiles. Axial brick
chimney stack near north end.
Plan: originally just a barn with a wide entrance on the east side. In the
C19 it was converted into stables at the north end and extended for a coach
house also at the north end with its entrance in the north gable end and
left above. In the C20 part of the loft was converted into a flat but may
have already been the groom's accommodation.
Exterior: The east side has a wide barn doorway to left with projecting
stone jambs and the main roof above carried down to form a small canopy;
the original large chamfered wooden door frame survives and has mason's
mitres and a later plank door. to left and right of centre 2 C20 flat roof
dormers with 4-light casements with glazing bars. Between the dormers the
main roof is carried down over a single storey lean-to addition with a
plank door on its right hand side. A small square hatch to right of lean-
to and a row of 6 pigeon holes below the holes.
The west side has one doorway into the barn to the right with a chamfered
wooden lintel with straight cut stops; and a small C20 flat roof dormer
through the eaves to the left.
At the north end are double doors to the coach house, 2 C20 casements above
and 1 pigeon hole to the right with a slate ledge.
Interior: has been subdivided, and only the roof over the south end was
inspected.; this has late C19 scissors braced trusses.
