The Dolphin Inn

GV II

Inn. C17 or C18, much modified. Rubble, rendered at back; asbestos cement
slate roof, some slate on outshuts, and one section with corrugated iron. The
front, which is continuous with Park Cottage (qv) to the left, is in 2 storeys
with 3 over 4 windows, all 2-light timber casements to wood lintels, mostly with
glazing bars; off-centre left is a 4-panel flush door to timber hood. Right
return has large stepped external stack, raised in brick, and a decorative
frieze bearing 2 dolphins and lettered Dolphin Inn. The back has stair projec-
tion towards left end and plank door; two added outshuts, one partly overlapping
Park Cottage. Second stack at former gable end also raised in brick. Interior
has been much opened up; right room has large bressummer fireplace with large
stone lintel over, remains of spiral stair.
