5/21 Holwell Farmhouse
- II
Farmhouse. Late C18 or early C19. Coursed and square stone, left return, and
wing, rendered; steeply pitched slate hipped roof to box eaves. A principal
lofty rectangular block with lower gabled wing, left back, and lower hipped bay
to right, and late C19 infill at back right, with some brickwork. Front is 2
storeys and attic, 5 + 1 windows, all 12-pane horned sashes to slightly set-back
boxes, thick slate cills, voussoirs with projecting keystones; set-back bay has
a 12-pane above a C20 casement to concrete lintol. To bay 2 is a deep-set door
to transom light, and in bay 5 a pair of C20 French doors. To back gable of
wing are two 2-light glazing-bar casements. Small plinth. Two square ridge
stacks. Interior not inspected. The name presumably from Holy Well (of St Ann)
close by.
