Farmhouse. Circa early C19. Slate rubble with red brick window arches,
right hand gable and partly slate-hung slate roof with gabled ends. Brick
shafts to gable end and axial stacks.
Plan: Double depth rectangular plan with 2 principal rooms at the front,
central entrance hall between smaller service rooms at the back, the right
hand back room the kitchen, the left hand rear room appears to be unheated
and was probably the dairy. On the right hand end a lower 2-storey and
cellar wing is set back from the front and probably of 1-room plan with a
gable end stack, it might be a later C19 extension.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front to main part of house and
2 window 2 storey and cellar wing set back on right. The main part of the 3
bay part has sash windows with flat brick arches with keystones only the
centre and right hand first floor have original 16-pane sashes (the glazing
bars of top right hand sash have been removed), the other sashes have later
C19 4-pane sashes. Early C19 doorway with early C19 6-panel door, panelled
reveals, pilasters and wooden portico with slender Tuscan columns and
entablature canopy with a panelled soffit.
Set back on right lower gable-ended wing with C19 16-pane sash on first
floor, 2-light casement to left and later C19 or C20 4-pane sash on ground
floor to right above a C19 plank door to cellar; right hand return has
louvred cellar window in blocked earlier entrance.
Rear elevation not inspected.
Including garden area wall at front, circa early C19, low slate rubble with
slate capping and end piers; the railings only survive to the right of the
gateway which is towards the right end and has square dressed slate piers
with moulded slate caps and C20 gate.
Interior: Not inspected Panelled window shutters moulded architraves to
arched alcove in front rooms and original staircase were observed.
