Farmhouse. Circa early C19. Rendered stone rubble, the front hung with rag
slates. Asbestos slate hipped roof with red clay ridge tiles. Rendered red
brick stacks at side and truncated lateral stack at back.
Plan: Double depth almost square plan. 2 principal front rooms heated from
side stacks entrance hall between containing staircase. At the back the
kitchen to the left with a rear lateral stack, small dairy at the centre and
a cider cellar to the right with a loft above. The cellar has an external
doorway on the right side and the loft has an external doorway at the back
and is an integral part of the house occupying the first floor of the rear
right-hand corner of the house. The kitchen has a side doorway into a later
C19 single storey outshut on the left side of the house.
Exterior 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window south front. Small C19 3-light
casements with glazing bars, the centre first floor is a C19 2-light
casement. Centred doorway with C20 glazed door and C20 glazed porch. Large
single storey outshut on left-hand (west) side right-hand east side has C19
plank door to cellar with C19 fixed-light window to left above.
Rear elevation has various C19 casements, truncated stack to right and
blocked loft doorway to left.
Including front wall enclosing small garden area with bowed front; C19,
slate ruble with rustic quartz capping and gateway at centre.
Interior: little altered and retaining most of its original simple joinery
including panelled doors and staircase with stuck balusters, column newel
and moulded hand rail. The original chimneypieces in the two front rooms
have have been removed.
