Barn. C17. Dressed stone rubble brought to course. Slate roof with gable ends.
T-shaped on plan, the base of the T forming a 2-storey porch. Main range has pair
of buttresses to right of porch and single buttresses to left side outside reset
timber mullion window with chamfered surround of 4-lights with pointed arched
heads. Porch has opposing C17 4-plank doors to each side wall with timber
chamfered mullion windows above of 3 lights close to eaves level. Porch front has
single ogee-arched light window above wide cart entrance infilled and heavy jambs
and lintel to C17 square-headed doorway inserted with C17 framed and ledged door
with pilastered arch way design and fishscale motif in the spandrels, probably
brought from C17 Stable Block (q.v.). Opposing wide cart entrance to rear with
porch canopy supported by original joists with inserted buttressing pier to right
side. Chamfered timber surround. Single buttresses with offsets to each side.
Roof structure intact with 5 trusses of straight heavy principals (with lap-jointed
pegged collars) and 3 tiers of threaded purlins and ridge purlin. Single C17 truss
to porch roof with lath and plaster partition between porch loft and barn with C17
doorway with chamfered surround and original door at right end.
