Former police station, now private dwelling. Late C19. Painted rendered stone
rubble. Slate roofs with gabled ends. Rendered stack at left gable end and axial
and gable end rendered stacks to rear wing.
Plan: asymmetrical L-shaped plan with passage to right side running from front
doorway through to former cells at rear, with 3 rooms in line to left of passage the
front room wider than the 2 rear rooms which are separated by the staircase. The two
principal rooms to the front have been converted to single large room in C20, and the
room between the staircase and former cells from a scullery to kitchen. The two
former cells have been altered into a single room extending the width of the rear
wing.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Large gabled half dormer to front with twin 4 paned sashes
above canted bay window with hipped slate roof and original diamond glazing pattern
to left of segmental pointed arched doorway with ashlar quoins, chamfered surround
with pyramid stops and original studded plank door. 2 half dormers to left side of
rear wing. The 2 right-hand windows retain original diamond glazing pattern. 2
blocked windows formerly lighing the cells to the rear gable end retain their wrought
iron grilles.
