- Reed headstone approximately
3 metres south of porch of
Church of St Matthew

Headstone. Dated 1804 in memory of John Reed. Slate. Upright square-headed slab
standing approximately 1 metre high. The inscription beginning with the word
sacred in Gothic lettering enriched with scrollwork is continued in upper and lower
case Roman serif letters and records the death of John Reed in 1804 followed by an
elegy. At the top is a delicate pattern of incised scrollwork around a cherubs
head executed in the same calligraphic manner.
