- Chapel 110 metres north-
- east of Bridwell Park
II*
Chapel, now derelict, formerly serving Bridwell Park (q.v.) 1792 the roof possibly
C14 or C15 and brought from another building. Coursed and random rubble volcanic
trap under gabled-end slate roof. Single cell structure of 3-window bays, with
porch to liturgical west end. South side, three 4-light square-headed windows,
timber, with stone hood moulds, each light ogee-headed. Remains of latticed
leading. Entrance front with round-headed entrance with ball capitals, square-
headed window above, partially collapsed; this wall evidently once contained
inscription panels. North elevation with no windows. There appear to be external
stacks to both ends, that above the porch with moulded cap, that to the other end
perhaps a bellcote, but detail obscured by ivy growth.
Interior: all fittings and finishings have been removed. The roof appears to be
medieval. 6 bays; principals rising from castellated scallop-shaped corbels,
collars with arch braces with bead moulding; decorated bosses. 2 pairs of trenched
purlins, 3 tiers of wind braces.
