Small house. Early C16, modified in C17, extended in C19 and C20. Rendered rubble
and cob walls. Gable ended asbestos slate roof. Axial granite ashlar stack with
drip courses, offset from ridge.
Plan: Original extent of plan unclear, the house may have extended further at the
left-hand end. At present the old part of the house consists of 2 rooms with a
dividing axial stack heating the larger left-hand room. This stack was inserted
into an open hall which probably had a central hearth and the house was ceiled at
tne same time. In the C19 a 1 storey addition was made at the right-hand end which
was made 2 storey in the later C20.
2 storeys. Asymetrical 2-window front. To right is 2-light metal frame C20
casement and above is a 2-light wooden casement in dormer. To left on ground floor
is early C16 3-light wooden mullion window, chamfered with rounded arched heads.
The mullions are C20 replacements. C20 leanto porch/conservatory built in front of
right-hand side with glazed door.
Interior: C17 fireplace with high chamfered wooden lintel with straight cut stops
and roughly chamfered granite jambs.
Roof: One complete original truss survives over the left-hand room. It has
substantial principal rafters with morticed cranked collar. It is unclear whether
it is smoke-blackened.
