II
House, formerly rectory. Circa 1840-50. Plastered stone walls. Gable ended slate
roof. 4 plastered gable end stacks with tall C20 brick shafts and 1 axial stack.
Plan: Double depth plan with service wing to the left. Central entrance passage
with 2 principal rooms overlooking garden to the right and subsidiary rooms to the
left with small service wing beyond.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window entrance front with 2 large gables and
smaller one in between. Left-hand gable has original 2-light sash window with
square hoodmould, similar window to its right and 3-light window below. Central
gabled porch with diagonal buttresses and 4-centred arched doorway with panelled
door. Recessed from left-hand end is 1-window service range with similar 2-light
window without hoodmould. Garden front at right-hand end is symmetrical with 3
windows, centre part projects slightly. First floor windows are 2-light sashes,
canted 4-light bay windows on ground floor. At centre is original glazed door with
gothic tracery, square fanlight and hoodmould above.
Interior not properly inspected but appears fairly complete and the 2 principal
rooms have original chimneypieces with 4-centre arched lintels and columns either
side. Original joinery also likely to survive.
