15/99 The Cottage (formerly listed as
4.10.60 Cottage adjoining Rose Cottage)

Cottage. Probably early C18 with probably C19 outshut. Rendered, probably over cob.
Wheatstraw thatched roof, half-hipped to right. Brick end stacks. Stone rubble
outshut with lean-to slate roof.
Plan: Two-room central entrance plan (facing north) with end stacks, external to
right. Probably C19 outshut at rear. Two-storeys with one-storey outshut.
Exterior: Symmetrical front with 3 windows to first floor and 2 to ground floor; late
C19 two-light small-paned wooden casements. Ground-floor late C19 canted bay to
right with small-paned wooden casements of 1:2:1 lights and hipped slate roof.
Central doorway with late C19 plank door and chamfered wooden frame. Rear has
ground- and first-floor C19 two-light wooden casements to left. Outshut with 2-light
wooden casement to right and half-glazed door to left.
Interior not inspected.
This cottage adjoins Rose Cottage (q.v.) on an island site at the south end of the
village.
