Barn. Probably late C18 or early C19. Uncoursed stone rubble with hipped corrugated
-iron roof (formerly thatched).
Plan: Range aligned approximately east-west (ground falls to west). Barn to east
with opposed cart entrances and loft to west built into slope. The owner (December
1987) reports that there was formerly a horse engine house (probably mid to late
C19) to the north of the barn, since demolished.
Exterior: Opposed cart entrances to north and south with wooden lintels and pairs of
C20 boarded sliding doors. Boarded loft door in south wall to left.
Interior: Seven-bay roof with trusses consisting of principals, pegged collars and
later nailed tie-beams. Half-height stone wall between barn and loft to west.
The barn forms part of a small farmstead group also including Snape Farmhouse (q.v.).
