Inn. Probably C16, much altered and added to C18, C19 and C20.
Painted brick in Flemish bond with some timber-framing to
right side-wall and to interior. Plain tile roof with brick
dentilled eaves; brick end-stacks, that on right external.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and cellar. 4-window range with 1-storey
added bay on right and rear wing. First floor: C20 2/2-pane
casement windows under gauged brick flat arches; at centre,
inn sign hung from decorative wrought-iron bracket.
Ground floor: on left, two C20 6-pane windows with some
opening panes, and on right a large similar 15-pane window
under gauged brick flat arch; near-central entrance has
architrave, bracketed leaded hood, 6-panel door, and 2 stone
steps; deep plinth, with cellar grille on left. Added bay has
carriage-entrance with double plank doors. Within this bay,
the main-range right return is visible and has: an exposed
external brick fireplace with timber lintel; chimney breast;
at higher level, an inserted grate; walling of stone, brick
and timber-framing, partly square-panelled and partly
close-studded; exposed roof timbers.
INTERIOR: exposed spine-beams, some chamfered, parallel with
frontage; some square-panel framing in internal walls; display
panels showing revealed rubble and tile mortared infill and
wattle and daub; large remodelled open fireplace with
heavy-scantling timber lintel.
