2 cottages in row. Probably early-mid C17, much altered and
refronted probably early C19, with further alterations C20.
Frontage of mostly red brick, part pebble-dashed; internal
timber-framing. Plain tile roof, with old tiles to right;
painted brick dentilled eaves; shared brick end-stacks; 3
dormers, that on right gabled with renewed triple 2/2
casements, those to left rebuilt C20 and flat-roofed.
EXTERIOR: single storey and attic; 3 bays. No.38, on left, has
2 remodelled 12-pane windows under segmental brick arches
flanking similarly-arched central doorcase with C20 door; 2
iron S ties; deep painted plinth. No.36, on right, has a small
4-pane window on right and on left a doorcase with C20 gabled
hood and door; no plinth.
INTERIOR: exposed square-panel timber-framing in rear wall and
studded party wall with some surviving wattle and daub infill;
large fireplaces and internal chimney breast; timber doorcase
to stairs; chamfered spine-beams; exposed roof trusses; some
ledged and battened doors of wide planks; wide floorboards.
